Bulger Safe & Lock

We have been using Bulger for years and years. Our latest experience with them they went above and beyond. Kudos to Eric in service. He was extremely helpful and was able to remain very professional helpful during situations between owner and contractor. Simply fabulous all around.

Very fast and easy to work with. I needed 4 copies of a garage door key that nobody else could do. The blank was hard to find. These guys got it done, fast and friendly.

Primarily, I get keys made here. Very good key cutting machines. The copies always work. The staff is friendly, polite and efficient. Have used Bulger for years, and never been disappointed. Reccomend them frequently.

I've been using them forever at the properties I manage. They do a wonderful job each time and are super prompt. Just now I got elevator keys made by them that would've cost me so much more from my elevator vendor. They're friggin great.

I have used bulger for 25 years. I ordered 2 blank keys for a odd vehicle over the internet. Went to have the key duplicated. The person behind the counter did not want to help and said they are the wrong blanks. They fit in locks and had them duplicated somewhere else with no issues. I realize this was a small job but now I won't use them for the other large jobs I have. Don't waste your time!

Had a great experience getting a bunch of house/garage/mail keys copied here. They're open during typical business hours on weekdays, and you can pop right in for service or lock/key-related merchandise. Security and COVID safety protocols are tight: you have to buzz in, wait for someone to come to the service counter, and there's Plexiglas separating you from the employee behind the service counter.

As of July 2021, masks were still required and everyone I saw was compliant. After you discuss what you need, you get a quote and an order slip, and you head out to wait in your car (there's a small but sufficient and well-paved parking lot). I was told it would take twenty minutes to have about 12 keys made, but it was only about 7 mins until they texted me that my order was ready--very nice.

Payment was quick and pricing was fair and accurately quoted ($49 for 12 keys of various shapes and sizes plus color-coded key covers) and the keys all work beautifully (NOT my experience when getting copies made at Ace Hardware).

Bulger cut me some room key copies about 3 weeks ago that ended up not working. Apparently, it was due to the blank the automated grocery store machine had picked for my "original." My roommate and I arrived at 5:17 last night, Friday, and were crest-fallen to see that we had just missed operating hours until Monday, once I'd already rung the front door intercom.

But just as we turned and we're walking away, Jeff, a long time technician appeared from the back and opened the door and asked if he could help us. I explained the problem and what we were here for and then I even had a different unique key that he hadn't even seen before to copy. And before I knew it he's offering to take them all inside to fix and recut them for me with no reciept, nor charge, after hours! What?!?!

Have I time-warped back 40 years when small businesses and customer service satisfaction mattered? 8 minutes later he's at my car with five keys the 2 old ones fixed, 2 new ones just in case, and one that he thought would have a shot to copy my strange new lock, and even explained why the original I've been difficult to copy. It turns out he even knew and recognized my roommate's mom a local long-term businesswoman in the community, but I'm pretty sure that's not what was driving his service. Nonetheless, it's further comforting to know that there's such a thing as locals in small business who care. Bulger ALL THE WAY!

I needed my locks changed and they showed up and compassionately handled the situation and charged a fair price. I love them and will always call them.

Dependable hardworking they stayed late and fixed a door that people were getting into. I would recommend them to anybody that wants job done right first time. Quality takes time! If your a home owner and want a secure lock that is not pickable call them, also antipry door systems are awesome

Incredible service. Because the nature of our situation we were able to drop off safe day of our issue and pick up next day. Thanks to the many J-named gentleman who work there for making a difficult situation less stressful.

I went in to have mailbox key copies made. Fast service, in and out in less than 10 minutes. Unfortunately, the copies didn't work, copied were too fat, they went half way in, unable to turn. Took them back the next day with attached picture, an older gentleman looked at it and he could tell right away that the copied keys were thicker. He shaped them off the same width as the original AND gave me an extra set to ensure I won't have to return for the 3rd trip. What an amazing customer service! The second copies work perfectly! I reached out to them when a key got stuck in our lock and broke off. It was drilled through and needed to be fixed. I called Bulger and explained what had occurred. I sent photos of the lock that needed fixing and asked for a quote. They said they would have to rebuild the whole mechanism to fit my old door and/or I'd need to find a replacement lock system that would fit my odd sized entry door (of which size dimensions they don't make anymore) - thus still requiring some major fixes.

The estimate could not be given based on the heavy kind of work they predicted. They said even if they sent someone out to look at it and nothing could be done they would still have to charge their full regular house call fee of over $100. None of that sounded reassuring so I started looking elsewhere. I found an honest, kind, and hard-working owner/operator in Ravenna Locksmith (Howard Nevitt) who told me right away over the phone he would be able to fix the problem with ease, and did! No rebuilds or long hours necessary! For quality service by someone who actually cares, look beyond Bulger.

Tried getting my keys cut for my original house key at home depot and ace. was told by both places to go to bulger. cam was super fast identifying the key and even faster making it. was in and out in 3 minutes.

Bulger has been a wonderful, valued vendor for many years. They got us back on our feet immediately after a break-in 3 years ago. We had a number of doors kicked-in or pried open. Bulger was on-site and had us secured that day. Over the next 3 days they repaired/replaced/re-keyed over 100 entry locks. Just the very best level of service!

I asked for a quote on replacing a lock and they told me $99. When I received the invoice it was for $215. Turns out the quoted price was just for the service call and didn't include the replacement lock and keys. I would think if a customer asks "How much to get a lock replaced?" you would quote the entire price, not just a piece of it. Feels dishonest.

Their callbox does not allow long-distance numbers to be programmed. Really inconvenient for many residents from our apartment complex who moved here from out of state. Very slow response time - getting callbox serviced/programmed takes forever too.

Fast friendly service. Lost my keys landlord uses them that why I came in. Easy to park. Not expensive for the services I needed.

Got a new digital lock put on an older rotary dial safe. These guys are fast, professional and affordable! I would recommend highly.

Only place in Seattle I can find that will make good copies of my Schlage deadbolt keys! Simple straightforward and friendly customer service.

Went in to get my keys replicated. The gentleman at the counter told me the prices and had me take a seat while I waited for a few minutes. Overall, it was a very straightforward trip, and all the other customer interactions I witnessed seemed to be helpful and professional. The keys came out much better than some of the times I have tried using those kiosks or hardware stores, so I'm glad to have gone to Bulger.

Went into Bulger Safe and Lock with my 1920's era front door lock assembly in pieces this morning. Spoke with Jake and he diagnosed the issue(s) and called me less than 2 hours later with my lockset rehabbed and working again. Very pro, very confident, very good service. THAT is why I went to Bulger in the first place.

I locked myself out, was very much distressed after a tough week at work. Couldn't reach my cats to feed them. Dylan was a lifesaver - he was calm, cheerful, and extremely professional. He was able to get into my house, no problem, but I was especially grateful for how he handled the situation (my stress and helping me stay calm). I would definitely recommend, had a good chat with him about my cats and his passion for dirt biking

Dylan is the man! I had an issue with my push bar mechanism at my store and Dylan end up helping me fix it and saving me a lot of money. He didn't have to do that. He could have sent a tech out and charged me a lot more but he went out of his way to get me the part I wanted and the advice I needed mostly over the phone. Great experience for me!

Just stopped at Bulger safe and Lock on lake city way in seattle and was helped by Dylan. Dylan solved two problems for me that numerous other people seemed unable to do, Not only did he solve them with a smile, he was efficient, speedy, understanding of the issue and offered Excellent customer service. I say to Dylan's boss, "keep that boy on and give him a raise!" Thanks Dylan

These guys are the best in the business! Cam is great! Everything I bring in gets fixed better than I expected and everything I buy is awesome! I just bought a new safe and it's AWESOME! Thanks sooooooooo much Bulger! Keep up the great work!

I called to order a lockset. Guy in the shop said he had something that would work for me but would only tell me the price, not the model number of what he was selling me. He said he couldn't give that information out over the phone. Weird.

Bulger has serviced our 24 unit condo building on Boylston for some years. They have NEVER done anything right. Nothing they install works right. We paid them to replace our 1930 ornate brass hardware. They put in a cheap crooked strike plate that doesn't fit the jamb and doesn't keep the door closed -- and then THEY STOLE OUR ORIGINAL HARDWARE which was easily worth $1,000 if not more. Bulger can't even install something as simple as a door closer.

We have to call them back every month or two to "repair" what they screwed up before, and they always charge us for these service calls. I will resign from my HOA board, of which I'm currently President, if our building manager or our board ever uses Bulger again. Incompetent, rude, sloppy work and workmen.
