Changing a steering lock assembly on my vehicle? not worth $350. I see from the reviews you have over charged others. Again everyone, a Kars employee began servicing my vehicle at my location within the hour. $150. Kars Locksmith is a company that wants to get the job done.

So I called around to a few local locksmith (about 4) and I got quotes between 45-49 bucks to rekey a brand new in box smartlock device. I called Davis and got a $20 quote. I went to the store and said I was quoted $20 over the phone to rekey my locks so I provided my 3 new in box and to rekey two of them for key alike. The much older gentlemen (sorry I didn't get your name) finished both in under 10min and said "here you go, and that'll be $15 per lock" and I'm like oh really? l then need to make 2 copies of the master key and for all 4 items it cost me $38!

I've driven by Davis Lock & Safe for years but never really stopped by until I need my first key alike made and glad I stopped by. These guys knows their stuff, honest and fair. The locks that got rekeyed are for our new house and I will be needing safes and such so I will definitely be back! p.s. I don't think I ever looked for any signs about prices for these services so my cost may differ from yours as I'm sure not all locks are equally the same so make sure to call first to get a quote.

Got two new car keys made quick and easy. They have a very cute dog in there too!

We moved into a new home and had them replace the front door with a smart lock and take the original front door lock and install it on the back door. they also rekeyed the back and garage door so they would all be the same. They were able to come out quickly after we called and overall happy with them. Only issue I had was that the guy damaged the frame of my back door.

He didn't mention it until I said something and his response was that they used cheap wood don't think that was an appropriate response. My door wasn't like that before and now we have take the time to fix it. Would've gave 5 stars if it wasn't for that

Got a price estimate for potentially drilling a single lock on a double stack gun cabinet. No drilling was done, sort of tweaked my key for a few seconds and double checked the locks were turning. Paid $240 for them to drive 4 miles down the road, be in my house for maybe 3 minutes of labor on site, tweak an original key that's now modified without a new pair and I don't have a second set. Won't be getting my business in the future.

I have used Davis previously with excellent service. I have an old motor home that we had misplaced the keys. Doug came out within 30 min. With everything needed to replace the keys. Very professional, excellent service and good value. I will definitely use them for all my lock needs.

Fast, friendly. And the keys work great, which you would think is a given, but other places have made copies for me that were finicky in the lock.

Service tech was awesome! Same day service. Lost both 2006 F150 chipped truck keys. Ford dealers were not able to replace them. $240 later I had 2 working new keys, couldn't be happier. Good job Davis!

I called Davis about getting a replacement key FOB for my car. They took down the make/model information and called me back a short while later with a quote for a FOB key and also a standard key for my car. They were polite, professional, and informative during both phone calls. I ended up going a different route but would gladly use Davis for any lock needs in the future.

Excellent customer service! Went yesterday to get some duplicate keys made and to ask questions about my malfunctioning deadbolt. I was given several suggestions of how to trouble shoot. I brought the deadbolt back the next day because it seemed to need replacement. He worked on it 5-10 minutes to make sure he couldn't repair it or get it working.

No luck. Then he was able to find the exact part I needed. No charge. And now my deadbolt is fixed and in working order again! All very fast and efficient. Great service and professionalisms!

Someone tried to break into my truck overnight and completely destroyed the ignitions cylinder and switch. When I towed the car to the mechanic shop, I got a quote for $850 and they said it will take around 6 hours to do it. Then, I called Davis Lock & Safe and they took care of it in an hour matching my original key and it only cost $350. The staff is very experienced, friendly, & professional. Thanks guys

They did a fine job on my key fob replacement, I was not aware of this being a final sale service. When I called asking about a return, after a brief hold he told me they don't do that, then he scoffs and laughs when I let him know about providing this info for those that might not know the policy. Then rudely hangs up. It's not personal it's just constructive criticism

Service was good; customer service was not. I called yesterday to get a price on having a lock re-keyed and was told it was $65. Had my son take the lock in today and they charged him $85. When he let them know I was quoted $65 he was told, "That's the standard price for that lock". Well, if it's the standard price, why wasn't it quoted correctly.

Nothing tricky, the lock cylinder was already out of the vehicle. Then, on top of that, the clip that was dropped off in the bag with the lock was not returned, which caused a return trip once my son realized it. Bad experience; next time I'll look elsewhere.

What great service! I went in on a Thursday and they were busy but I still received great, fast service! I needed a Mustang key cut and programmed. Cut a key was $5 and programming was $85. Worth it to have a spare. They programmed a second key for free! To top it all off, my battery died in the parking lot and 2 guys gave me a push start! Outstanding service! Highly recommended!

Davis Lock & safe has been there to give me back peace of mind more than once. They replaced the key fob and the locks on my car after it was recovered from being stolen, they replaced the locks on the cabinet in my office a couple of times, and have done other various keys for us over the years. The staff is always been very knowledgeable and kind. They do great work.

Worked fast and efficiently. A little expensive, but I didn't shop around. Door knobs worked great.

Rude & price gouching they asked exactly double price for my car key to be cut, be aware check other locksmith stores, honestly less than a year ago it was my favorite store not anymore, I don't if they have a new owner or not

Davis Lock & Safe is loaded with incredible talent. I've done business with them for YEARS. I can't recall a time they didn't bail me out when I was locked out, needed keys for door locks I've lost, etc. If it involves a key or a locking device---these are your go-to experts.

Came the day they were called and came fast. However, after the locksmith left the door did not shut properly. This caused more repair costs, which will be paid to another locksmith.

VERY RUDE and PRICE GOUGING I stop by Davis Lock and Safe because I needed a 5" exterior Kwikset entry latch ( not a standard size), a standard size will cost you approx. $5.00. I usually will purchase from local merchants if possible. I get there and I'm told the cost for a 5" latch is $35.00. I was taken back slightly offended and said that seemed awfully expensive, but mind you I needed the part so I paid their price.

As I left and got in my vehicle I looked up the part online and found the part for $8.05, and kwikset said their LIST price was only $17.50, list price is usually always higher than retail. Before I drive away I popped back in their store and told them that their price was extremely high as I just found it for much less. Their response was we don't compete with Amazon prices.

To which I said that's fine I just thought you should know. I get to the point of installing the part only to find it is defective, in order to remove it I use a screw driver and slightly pry it back out. call Davis Lock and safe and explain that the latch won't retract and ask if there is something I can do to make it work, they ask if I broke it, I say well obviously it's broken, but I didn't do anything abnormal in installing it.

They say bring it back for a replacement. When I get there they will not replace it, become rude ( saying I shouldn't have purchased it in the first place). There was a verbal exchange about how I felt about their business practices and price gouging. I went to my vehicle and proceeded to order the part online with my phone only to have one if the employees yell to get off their property (I was parked on the public street) and threaten to call the police. I would avoid this business if at all possible They got 1 star only because you have to give that min to leave a review. Very RUDE, and Obvious price Gouging

Needed help for rekeying 3 locks and drilling one hole for the deadbolt installation. Matt was very friendly and at the same time professional. The entire job took less than an hour to complete. He also followed up after the appointment to make sure all the locks are installed properly. Highly recommend

This people wouldn't help me after I called them and asked if they provided the service I needed and I drove all the way to they're location and these people tell me they can't do what I need! This place is ran by assholes and more and importantly people that don't want to do proper business!

I haven't posted anything negative before, but I'd be a bad neighbor if I didn't pass this along. Buyer beware w/Davis Lock, though I've had several okay experiences with them prior to this. I had my old Lexus key break after 11 years in the ignition. Davis charged $100 and gave me a new one in about 20 minutes. 60 days later a hairline crack in the housing, at 90 days it broke apart. Called in and was told I would have to speak to owner, and one was always there.

Two more visits, one was there. Owner offers only 30 day warrantee and won't work with me on it at all. Okay. Jerks, but okay. But here's where real consumer deception comes in. I am then "educated" that even the Lexus and Honda factories use the same housing and that a dealer will charge me $275 for the same. Says they all crack. I mention that my old one lasted 11 years and his own employee mentioned a difference in factory keys, and pointed out that at this rate he's talking about me spending $400 a year with him replacing quarterly.

He says it's better than $275 each. And again they all crack. And that his employee was wrong. BTW Kuni Lexus charges $115 and delivers a factory key housed in a case at least 5x stronger within 18-48 hours. You can just hold the case in your hand and feel the weight diff. Bravo. $115. Not $275. Three things bother the hell outta me about how Davis Lock handles this: 1. Deliberately misinforming a customer about differences in casing available ("they're all the same!") and cost of alternatives.

Really shady stuff. No whoops about it. Intentional misinformation. 2. The price of $100 using a crappy thin aftermarket alternative ADMITTED by the owner to crack regularly. But the worst one? Without a doubt. 3. Throwing an employee under the bus to support and protect your own dishonesty. Wow. And he was standing there too. Wow again.

I think I've been working with these guys for 30 years! From doing new keys on houses that I've sold for clients to safes and car keys. they have done at all. Always a very fair price and always the most professional and make a do that difficult keys like laser cut car keys. If you need keys on the West side of Portland there can only be one go to and that's Davis!

Excellent service and extremely accommodating! We closed on our new home yesterday afternoon just after 2:00 pm. Thanks to Eric and the team at Davis Lock and Safe, we were able to get a locksmith to come and rekey everything for us by 3:20 pm the same day. Been here a few times and I've had a great experience with excellent customer service. My husband needed a motorcycle key made from his ignition and this was the only place I called who could do it. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and pleasant to chat with while I waited.

I witnessed an interaction between the owner/manager and a customer in the parking lot. The manager had a space blocked and then a man pulled in, completely blocking anyone else from parking. They just sat there in their cars, chatting away. When the third person then parked elsewhere, the manager started barking "You can't park here! You can't park here!" The guy started leaving and the manager took out her phone and began photographing his vehicle. Really, Davis Lock?

This is how you treat people? What utter garbage. If I ever need anything done regarding locks I will be avoiding this place like the plague. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

Davis was quick and efficient in duplicating a key I had to get for work. This reason is enough to give them 5 stars, but it was their customer service that really blew me away. While in the store an individual came in asking for a key replacement for her cat. They were able to replace the key (as any good locksmith would) but she was livid that they didn't also completely reprogram the electronic keyfob (which is not what she asked them to do).

The gentleman behind the counter kept a level head as the customer screamed and yelled at him, and after 5 minutes of yelling she finally stormed off. The employee kept a smile through it all and didn't let the instance phase him. If you are in need of anything lock or key related I definitely recommend Davis for their outstanding customer service and their attention to detail.

I've used Davis Lock And Safe in the past and had an acceptable experience. Recently I needed help on a keypad combination (suspected dead battery). When I called the first technician gave me wrong advice while on the phone with them and their solution would not work. After which I willingly agreed to have an on site technician to troubleshoot the lock.

The next day the technician literally swapped the battery in about 30 seconds but the lock would not respond. The technician stated "I guess you will have to have someone drill it or call for other technical support". He also said maybe you'll have to replace the whole unit. The technician then changed me $135 and left. After about an hour of personal troubleshooting I figured out the technician installed the battery backwards!

To be fair the technician did call me later to state that he may have installed the battery wrong after I had figured that out. When I confirmed that, they did not offer any condolence or reduced charges. Overall a terrible experience.

Just bought a new house and locked the storm door - little did I know the deadbolt lock was twitchy and I was unable to unlock it again. Called the after hours number and was given some common sense advise over the phone that worked. Thanks!

Call them today and asked about making a key for a motorcycle that I bought at an auction, told them I had the Ignition and one of the side locks pulled they said it wouldn't be an issue and it would be $35 total so I drove from Vernonia to them to be told $85?!? What a waist of time and gas. Would not recommend them at all.

Needed copies of the key for my 1970 Ford pickup made. The big box home improvement stores couldn't do it. I was a little apprehensive about coming here because Locksmiths (fairly or not) have the reputation of being expensive. Nope.these guys are professional, fast, and do their craft to perfection. And very reasonably priced.

This. Place. I didn't know I needed this place till I came here. Worth. It. Do. It. It feels like every time I go to a hardware store or home improvement store and want key copies that they don't work or they use cheap metal so my car key bends.but not at Davis Lock & Safe! Good guys that work here but Mike was the friendliest of the bunch.

Outstanding one on one customer service. I went to Davis looking for a tough padlock without breaking the budget. They offered me quite a few selections based on quality and over all security. I pick what would work for me and had a bunch of keys cut and stamped. They have a wall entirely of padlocks, key chains and designer keys too. They do have safes but I'd like to see a bigger variety like stand up safes, wall safes, etc. but I'm sure they could order whatever you need. The people are really helpful too.
