I cannot say enough about the amazing experience I had with Safety Locksmith, and in particular Ron who is an experienced, knowledgable, and talented electrician who knows his craft and wonderful to work with - he truly cares about the job and the client. I always wanted a big formal chandelier and bought one from Facebook Marketplace. I thought I just had to take approx. 3500 crystals off and wash them - what a fun project. NO.the chandelier had to be completely rewired which required a specialist.

I called several places and the cost was astronomical - then I found Ron at Safety L. I explained the situation and the quotes I was getting - he said bring the chandelier over to the store and he would let me know exactly what needed to be done and if I didn't use his service I would at least gain some knowledge. Needless to say he was extremely informative and I decided on the spot to hire him for the restoration. Unbelievable and impeccable service - response time - guidance - gave me a fair quote!

I even had trouble putting a set of crystals on and he guided me through the process on the phone - I still needed help and he put the crystals on beautifully which required a specific angle. Hanging a chandelier also requires a specialist not your average electrician. He took the time to come on a Sunday to evaluate the old light box which had been worn down since I am in a prewar building.

He came back with a whole team the next day - the work was flawless and even mounted the ceiling medallion. It is not easy to fine a true, experienced and talented electrician in New York City who is affordable and I am truly grateful to Ron and his team - the chandelier would not have been restored and hung properly if it wasn't for him and now I can enjoy all 3500 crystals!

After living in NYC for 20+ years I needed my lamps repaired. Including a halogen lamp. I schlepped my lamps to another store and they said they didn't fix halogen lamps. When I called the manufacturer in Minnesota they pointed me to Safety. Ron fixed my halogen lamp beautifully such that I gave him 3 other lamps to fix. If you love your lamps and they are not working or working properly, this is THE place. Thank you Ron and David!

The store is a mess, and the staff is rude and irritable, but you can find pretty much anything there hardware-wise

They wanted to charge me $56 for a key. Granted it was an expensive key but I went to another locksmith in and got it for $18. That locksmith I used was on the upper East side as well. Also only one of do people who worked there put on my mask when I asked. I was getting the keys for my mother. Had her wait outside in the rain because it was safer.

Don't bother rushing over. If you need a specific job done and call in advance it's useless. Their staff is quick encourage you to walk into the store, but aren't helpful by the time you get there, even if you called to confirm in advance.
